2024 The Year of Delight!

Beautiful woman in a poppy field.

As I was talking to a writer friend, I told her I hadn’t selected a word for the year like many people I follow. 2023 was honestly so difficult for me. I lost my mom in the spring, which is my favorite time of year. The winter bled into spring last year. (I’m so glad I can say that now, lol), and when we buried her, there was at least two and a half feet of snow at the cemetery. We also had other family issues to deal with, including my father getting very sick a couple of times. In fact, he’s still in rehab.

Despite the difficulty, I did complete a novel (the first draft of Witches of Silver Moon Bay) is finished! Yay!!! I truly love that the words flowed and that I was able to concentrate enough to fill the pages. I’ve known for a long time that I’m a discovery writer, and when I fret about not knowing what comes next in my books, all I do is delay the books.

This year, I’m leaning into uncertainty and hoping that I can give up the idea that I need to know what happens for the book to be good. I’m so excited to share Secrets of the Magicorium with you. I also hope that this year will truly be delightful. I’m seeking for delight in everything I do, from writing, to eating, to moving my body, to the entertainment I consume. I want to look back on this year and grin with delight in all I’ve accomplished, enjoyed, and endeavored. And I wish the same for you. May you live a delightful year filled with love, abundance, and joy!
